Thai Non-Immigrant Visas
Thailand offers various categories of Non-Immigrant visas, allowing foreign nationals to stay in the Kingdom for specific purposes. Here are some common types:
ED (Education) Visa: This visa is for individuals up to 50 years old who are enrolled in a certified Thai educational institution providing formal tuition. To obtain this visa, you must already hold a Non-Immigrant visa. If you currently have a different type of entry (e.g., tourist visa), you will generally need to leave Thailand and apply for the ED visa at a Thai Embassy or Consulate abroad.
Non-O Visa: This category is often used for “follow-up visas.” Common examples include:
- A parent accompanying their child who holds an ED visa.
- A husband joining his wife who has a Retirement (Non-Immigrant O based on retirement extension.
Other Non-Immigrant Visa Categories: While less common, there are Non-Immigrant visas available for other specific purposes, such as religious visits, journalists, and investors.
